British Pavilion, Shanghai Expo 2010

Project Shots

In 2010, we worked with the British Pavilion, a beautiful, delicate cube like structure, at the World Expo in Shanghai. Working within this substantial expo landscape, we wanted to create a space which juxtaposed the extensive use of colour changing LEDs. In doing so, we created a tranquil environment, inviting visitors to stop, rest and enjoy the space. To do so, we installed two exterior theatrical lights onto a 20 metre pole, projecting slightly out of focus texture onto the landscape. This was done in contrast to existing low level LED fixtures, highlighting the landscape’s contours but retaining focus on the pavilion itself.
