Wahaca, Soho

Project Shots

At Wahaca’s Soho location, we worked with Softroom’s architectural approach which uses materials and textures to divide spaces. Both to enhance the restaurant space and create a visual impact with the street, we playfully installed a series of recycled cardboard pendants, LEDs and cables in the bar area. The inspiration for using cables originates with Wahaca’s desire to replicate the street market in their restaurants, both in terms of decoration and how the restaurant operates. Hand dyed in Shanghai, these cables intend to both imitate conditions of street markets where electricity cables run in all directions and to allow the feel of colour to be surprising and uplifting.
