We used light to define the open plan bowling alley and divide it into individual areas, where localised activities help determine each specific strategy. An example of this can be seen in the bar and café areas, which are lit using natural hues to create a comfortable environment and also to create a visual link within the space. In contrast, the lanes are treated as a focal point and use a multitude of lighting treatments, such as colour. Views were also assessed, creating a hierarchal balance between areas by controlling the softness of the light.
