The lamp is integral to the image of Sophie’s Steakhouse as a symbol of the restaurant’s simple and honest approach to food. This installation therefore focuses the attention of the patron through the use of spotlights onto the many decorative GLS lamps throughout the restaurant, including two large custom chandeliers. Furthermore, the restaurant required the lighting to create a range of atmospheres, from lunchtime dining to a late night setting. In addition to the more decorative GLS lamps showcased using metal halide fibre optic projectors, the restaurant is also lit using 551 frosted droplets, using colour wheels to change the atmosphere and create a sense of warmth. These are arranged throughout the restaurant to divide the large space into more intimate zones.
